In a social media post, Epic confirmed that legal action had been taken against a player who shared their account to unfairly qualify for the Fortnite Championship Series. As a result, the player has been permanently banned from Fortnite tournaments, and their ill-gotten prize money was donated to charity. The player in question, RepulseGod, appeared in an apology video, admitting to letting another player use their account to qualify for a major 2023 tournament, where the grand prize exceeded £3 million. Although RepulseGod was disqualified before the Global Championship began, they still received a portion of the prize money and had their travel expenses covered.
In the video, RepulseGod expressed regret, stating, "I am banned from competing in Fortnite tournaments forever. I also have to pay a monetary settlement, which includes the prize money I received but did not win fairly. Cheating in tournaments ruins the fun for the players who earned their spot in tournaments and I apologise to the Fortnite community for my actions. I won’t ever cheat in Fortnite again.”
