Cyber Attack Explained
Hey everyone,
I've been reading a lot about cyber attacks recently, and I find the topic really interesting and a bit alarming at the same time. There’s so much jargon out there—phishing, malware, ransomware, DDoS, etc. I thought it might be helpful for newcomers like myself to understand what exactly constitutes a cyber attack.
From what I gather, a cyber attack is any attempt by hackers to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to computer systems, networks, or devices. These attacks can range from stealing personal information and intellectual property to paralyzing whole networks and demanding ransom to restore services.
I’d love to hear more from people who have experience in cyber security:
- How do cyber attacks usually start? Is there a common entry point that attackers exploit?
- What are some examples of real-world consequences of a successful cyber attack?
- What are the best preventive measures one can take to protect against cyber attacks, both on an individual and organizational level?
- Can you share any memorable cases or peculiar tactics you've come across in your career that highlight the evolving nature of cyber threats?
Looking forward to learning more and understanding how to better protect myself and my data.
Thanks!
